Makani is a functional concept for a modern-day skeuomorphic phone interface
Old, yet curiously gold.
Taking cues from older design trends, Makani is an equilibrium between modern software and classic styling.

Makani is a study of the design language manufacturers settled on during the late 2000s/early 2010s tech innovation boom. For companies like Palm and BlackBerry, the philosophy behind their phone interfaces was to make it as easy as possible, both in navigation and on the eyes.Kustom - the platform the theme relies on - is limited, so while I can't make the design of Makani functional in a similar sense, it still attempts to be eye-friendly, incorporating visuals that are more natural looking compared to the flat design we're used to seeing nowadays.Or you could just consider this to be a nostalgia project. You wouldn't be wrong.

You can demo Makani for yourself! To use it, you'll need Kustom Live Wallpaper (with the Pro key) and a suitable launcher.
Why do I need the Pro key? Do you make money off of this?
The Pro key for KLWP allows access to their import feature, which is needed to load Makani into the editor. Nova Launcher has integrated ads into the free launcher experience as of January 2026. You can either install it with an older .apk file, or switch to Lawnchair/Hyperion.
