why the SD-1 was madeI stumbled across Scott Yu-Jan's video on his DN40 style wireless charging dock, and thought the idea was clever. This came around the time when I received my Bambu Lab A1, and figured that making a similar project would be a good exercise to get me started.The SD-1 was designed in Autodesk Fusion, which was a completely new toolset for me. The dock uses a MagSafe puck to charge the phone, and fits the Google Pixel 9 series when caseless.

Like the DN40 dock, I chose to use the simple, yet effective designs of Dieter Rams; with his Phase 1 alarm clock design leaving quite a bit of room for interpretation.
The clock face itself already appears to take a similar shape to that of your typical candy-bar phone, with it being attached to the white main body. It can be easily translated into a space for a smartphone to attach to.
