Taking cues from older design trends, Makani is an equilibrium between modern software and classic styling.
Makani is a study of the design language manufacturers settled on during the late 2000s/early 2010s tech innovation boom. For companies like Palm and BlackBerry, the philosophy behind their phone interfaces was to make it as easy as possible, both in navigation and on the eyes. This project attempts to be similar, in the sense that it incorporates visuals that are more natural looking compared to the flat design we're used to seeing nowadays.While the platform the theme relies on (Kustom) is limited, Makani itself is still functional enough to be usable on a daily basis. Consider it to be a practice for UI design rather than a fully cohesive solution for the smartphone market.
Shades are Makani's quick-task feature, letting the user access notifications, calendar events, weather, and their media controls swiftly from the home screen.The interface of the shades are easy to navigate and read, giving the user important details first, while also giving immediate access to the associated app should the user need more.
